Jesus FAQs (frequently asked questions)

Who is Jesus?

Jesus was born over 2000 years ago into humble surroundings. He was different from anyone else who has lived because His mother was a virgin and His father was the God of creation. Jesus lived on earth for roughly 33 years. He was crucified even though He had never done anything wrong. As a result of his death and resurrection, which occurred three days later, everyone can experience forgiveness of sin and have a personal relationship with God.     <top>

What does the Bible say about Jesus?

The Bible teaches that Jesus is the Son of God, lived a sinless life, and was sent to earth by God to open the way for people to experience eternal life. Jesus cared deeply about the hurting people of His society and ministered to them by healing both their bodies and their souls. Jesus was a great teacher who understood the hearts and minds of individuals. Jesus was like all of the rest of us in that He experienced life fully as a human being facing the same temptations and trials each of us experience. He was different from us in that He never yielded to temptation of sin.     <top>

How can we know that Jesus really lived?

The fact of the physical existence of a religious leader named Jesus of Nazareth in the first century has few doubters. The New Testament of the Bible was based on the life of this man. Many of the letters in the New Testament and all of the Gospels were written by people who spent time with Jesus. These men died horrible deaths because of their unwavering allegiance to the statements that they made about Jesus. It is highly unlikely that this many people would sacrifice their lives to keep a myth about a man that never existed. Even our current calendar system attests to the common acceptance of the existence of Jesus. Where the debate exists centers on whether or not Jesus was truly the Messiah or Son of God. The only way for a person to be fully convinced that Jesus was who Christians claim Him to be is for the person to ask Him to become real to them by asking Him to forgive their sins. When a person does this, a transformation will take place in the person’s heart and mind that will confirm that Jesus is indeed the Son of God.     <top>

Why should I believe in Jesus rather than Buddha or some other God?

It is possible to have intellectual knowledge about any number of religious leaders from the past. The thing that separates Jesus from the others is that you can’t have a relationship with a dead person. Only Jesus came back to life and continues to relate to His followers. Jesus loves His followers, comforts them, and assists them in times of trouble. Belief in Jesus is a two-way street as opposed to the one-way homage which is demanded by the deities of other religions.     <top>

What does Jesus want from me?

Jesus wants to be in a loving relationship with you. Jesus desires to enrich your life through acts of love and anticipates your dedicated love in return. Jesus is not hard to please. He understands that we blow it from time-to-time. He simply wants us to recognize it when we hurt Him through disobedience and sin and to come to Him for forgiveness. As you grow in relationship with Jesus, you will discover more of the things that please Him. As with anyone you love, you will not do these things as a duty, but as a joyful act of affection.      <top>

How can I ask Jesus to become the leader of my life?

God has made this pretty easy because He has done all of the hard work by sending Jesus to earth. Your responsibility is to first want to have a relationship with God. When you pass this first test, you must ask Jesus to become a part of your life. The only condition is that God desires for you to realize the pain your sinful life has caused Him and to ask for forgiveness. He will immediately forgive you and will joyfully begin to build a relationship with you. Once the relationship is established, you want Jesus to give you guidance and direction.     <top>

How will Jesus change my life?

A person’s actions and attitudes are generally influenced by the company he keeps. The more you hang out with Jesus through prayer and reading the Bible, the more you will become like Him. You don’t have to obey a list of rules another follower of Jesus gives you. You will change from the inside out as your desires become aligned with Jesus’ desires. Jesus is never going to make you do anything you don’t feel comfortable doing. The changes that occur will be based on your desires and made possible through the power of the Holy Spirit who God has provided for just this purpose.      <top>
